Copper Bottle DIY + A Spring Table!

I'm excited to share a quick DIY that really helped me brighten up my dining room table and get it ready for Spring! I bought these cute little milk glass jars at Ikea a few weeks ago at about $1.50 each. Hello great deal! At the time I had no plan for them, but once I saw them I knew that I couldnt leave with out a few.

Here's what you'll need:

Glass Jars - you can find these here

Painters Tape

Spray Paint

Plastic or Paper Bag

Step 1: Take a plastic bag - you can use paper bags or newspaper too - and wrap the top of your bottle to the point that you do not want the paint to cover. Secure the plastic down with painters tape, this will give you a nice crisp line. I made sure that I had enough plastic to push down into the bottle so that the rim didnt get any paint on it.

Step 2: Spray paint your bottles! I used copper spray paint and I really love the shimmer that it gives off. I only used 2 coats for these, but really I could have done one more.

Step 3: Once the paint has completely dried you can remove your tape and show off your new bottles!

I think they look great with some of my vintage canisters from my wedding. Spring is the best time to add in brightly colored trinkets all around the house!

I would also like to take this opportunity to admit that I am a lover of faux flowers. I know that I may lose some of you on this one, but I cant help it. I especially loved these green leafy branches that I found the other day at a local craft shop - they're so vibrant! Am I alone in this? I'm a firm believer in putting things in your home that you love...not because they're hip or because other people will like them, but because when you walk into your home you feel at ease and inspired to be your best. I am not so good at keeping real plants alive (although I am working really hard to keep one little guy going strong!), but I really enjoy having bright little bulbs around.

At Home: Record Station

Today I'm going to give you guys a little sneak peek into my record station! This sits off of my living room and is in the perfect location to hear the music all through the downstairs. Craig and I probably listen to records at least once a day, and right now we're working on growing our collection! When shopping for records we always focus on quality over quantity. We always choose records that we truly love and are looking forward to listening to.  

I made this cute little banner to add a texture to our collage above the records. I really love the subtle pink stitching. I basically made it the same way as my holiday banner, if you'd like to see a tutorial ;)

It's such a great time right now to be buying records - you can find mostly all new releases on vinyl. Even just this morning I got an email from Amazon alerting me that The Xx vinyl is on sale for $12.99. It's one that I've been meaning to pick up, but just havent made the purchase...until now! Hopefully it comes quickly in the mail! We started a tradition on Valentines day where each pick out a vinyl for each other and spend the night cooking together and playing our new music all night. It really is the absolute best! You can see a peek into which ones we chose this year here :)

Some of our favorites are: The Postal Service (which has our song on it in 2 different versions so we listen to it alot!), Jimmy Eat World, Mumford & Sons, The Shins, Foster the People, Amy Winehouse and Bright Eyes. We also have our fair share of older vinyls too! We are really into 70s rock like Earth Wind & Fire (I could listen to September over and over and over and over), The Who, Foreigner, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, The Doors, Jethro Tull, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd...I could really list these forever! But I would have to say that there is really nothing better than putting Bachman Turner Overdrive on the player on a Saturday morning, making waffles with Craigy and making plans & cracking jokes in our PJs. That really is a slice of heaven.

I also like my crooners....Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Dean Martin, and we cant forget the beautiful Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Craig likes it too, but its mostly for me :)

Vows + A Sneak Peek

 I've been working on our new bookcases for about a week now and am loving how they're turning out! One project that I have been specifically excited about is finally printing out our vows and framing them. In case you're a new reader I'll give you a quick recap: Craig and I have been married for over 6 years now. When we got married we eloped and ran off to the court house - it was sweet and so romantic, but I always knew that I wanted to have a real wedding. It was really so important to me. We made plans to renew our vows and have the wedding that we always dreamed of on our 5 year anniversary - and we did! You can see some of the pictures here.

Anyways! I've been wanting to print out our vows and frame them for over a year now, but nothing seemed right. I wanted to do a custom framing, but never made the time and didn't want to spend the money. So finally I decided to buy some frames and wrap the mat in fabric. Bonus: the frames were only $10/each and I only needed 1/4 yard of fabric in each print! So affordable.

I couldn't be happier with the turn out! You can find a quick tutorial that I did last year here if you've never done this before.

Before & After: Spare Bedroom

I have been looking forward to showing off my spare bedroom makeover for weeks! There is still a small project or two that I am working on, but really...isn't there always ''one more project''?

As you can see I kept the same quilt, headboard, large picture and chair in the room, but everything else is different. I wanted to keep it bright and fun, nothing too serious. I used the small pink flowers in the chair as an excuse to add pink into the room...which will obviously trickle into the attached bathroom once I get around to finishing it too.

I gave myself about $150 to finish off the room...which I probably went over, slightly.

I'm redoing my guest bedroom over the next few weeks and there are a few things in this room that I plan on using as part of my inspiration. Especially those floral euro shams...I just purchased the fabric to make my own last night. Can't wait to show you the finished product!
